Two Gainesville parents have been arrested and charged with felony child abuse after the father ran over his three-year-old while operating a Bobcat machine.
“This was an active worksite, construction site, with several pieces of large construction equipment,” said Sergeant Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department. “Obviously, not a playground where children should be, or where children should be at all to begin with.”
Prince William County police say they began their investigation on March 15 when the boy was flown to a local trauma center for severe internal injuries.
Hospital staff notified police while treating the boy. His parents, Kenneth Toone and Erin Knox were arrested and charged on April 17.
