A Front Royal woman died after a car struck her while she crossed on South Street.
According to the Front Royal Police Department, the accident happened on Thursday night shortly before 10:30. The victim, Ethel Elaine Blackwell, 65, was struck by Front Royal resident Herman Melvin Vohs, Jr., 75, who was driving westbound on South Street. Blackwell was pronounced dead on the scene by medics.
Preliminary investigation into the fatal accident indicates that Blackwell was in the crosswalk at the intersection of Acton Street at the point of impact, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
