We received some numbers from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office traffic division commander.
Between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to five crashes — one resulting in two serious injuries.
Deputies also responded to 35 incidents involving disabled vehicles or vehicles off the road. Area 13 Virginia state police responded to 44 crashes, they also responded to a combined 29 incidents involving disabled vehicles or vehicles off the road. None of those crashes involved deaths or serious injuries.
Today’s snow is not light and fluffy, it is heavy, icy snow. This could make a commute very dangerous and slippery if drivers are not cautious. FCSO and VSP are urging drivers to be careful, especially as the snow melts and turns to ice.
