A Prince William County commonwealth’s attorney has ruled that two officers were justified in their use of force during an officer-involved shooting.
On November 4, Prince William County officers responded to Laurel Street in Woodbridge for a report of an armed individual with a gun. Upon arrival, Brett Monteith greeted the officers with gunshots from the roof.
During the shootout, Monteith shot an officer, hitting the back of the officer’s ballistic vest. Monteith was shot in the upper body. He was charged with one count of attempted capital murder of a police officer, and on count of using a firearm for a felony.
A preliminary court date is scheduled for December 12.
