FCPD launches new app that helps track criminal and terrorist activity

The Fairfax County Police Department is joining forces with agencies across Northern Virginia to launch a portal for residents to report  suspicious, criminal or terrorist activity.

The iWatchNOVA app allows residents to report questionable activity by uploading photos and specific details. The Northern Virginia Regional Intelligence Center, which covers 18 jurisdictions then collects, and evaluates the information.

“Instead of having to wait on an officer to come out and fill out a suspicious activity report or something related to terrorism, someone within a minute can come on the app, submit a report, and upload pictures and all of that will come right to our intelligence center,” said Lt. Jason Allegra.

The app allows users to have the ability to remain anonymous, and is free on IOS and Android.
