FBI and Arlington County Police Department charge 9 with prostitution-related offenses

Virginia

After a two-day operation led by the FBI and the Arlington County Police Department, nine people have been charged with crimes related to human trafficking.

On March 21 and 22, the FBI’s Washington Field Office and officers from Arlington County’s Criminal Investigations and Operations Sections attempted to locate juveniles being exploited into sex trade.

While the investigation didn’t find juveniles, nine people were charged with a total of eight misdemeanors and two felony charges. All but one were charged with misdemeanor prostitution.

The operation identified classified ads advertising prostitution.

“We did gain a number of intelligence information. We’re going to continue to follow any leads that come of it and seek charges as appropriate,” said Public Information Officer Ashley Savage of Arlington County Police Department.

If you believe you are a victim of a trafficking situation or have information about one, call the 24-hour National Human Trafficking Resource Center.
