Fairfax Police officers improving child safety in the car and on the bike

More from Northern Virginia

Over the weekend, Fairfax County police officers are improving child safety, both on bikes and in car seats.

Virginia law requires that all children under the age of 8 be in a safety seat or booster seat. Those under the age of 14 are required by law to wear a helmet.

Saturday morning, officers set up at two schools to offer child seat installations and safety inspections as part of its initiative to interact with parents and children in Fairfax neighborhoods.

Officers will be back out on Sunday at Falls Church High School from 1 to 4 pm.
