Virginia

As reliance on cars continues to decrease in Fairfax County, officials are planning a huge expansion of their Capital Bikeshare program.

There are currently 30 bikeshare stations across the county, which were used for 23,129 trips last year. On Monday, the City of Falls Church launched their Capital Bikeshare system with 11 stations.

County officials also announced reccomendations for 6 new stations in the Merrifield Capital area, 17 new stations in the Providence District, including one along the Route 7 corridor between Tysons and the City of Falls Church. An additional 10 stations are planned for Reston by summer 2020.
