Drunk driver arrested for hit and run, leaving victim in critical condition

A drunk driver was arrested in Manassas after striking a woman with his car and driving away.

According to Manassas City police, the victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her condition is unknown.

Just after 5 p.m. Sunday, the Manassas City Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run in the 9600 block of Cloverhill Road. 

The police department released a description of the car to surrounding jurisdictions. Public Information Officer Renee Carr of the Prince William County Police Department reports an officer spotted the vehicle about 15 minutes following the incident.

The officer conducted a traffic stop at the 7-11 gas station on Purcell and Dumphries Road. 

“The driver was later arrested for driving under the influence,” said Carr. “The driver also had an open container of alcohol.”
