MCLEAN, Va. - Veronica Youngblood, charged with killing her 5-year-daughter Brooklynn Sunday night, and wounding another child at a Tysons area apartment, admitted the crime to police.
According to court documents, Youngblood provided police with a detailed account of the shooting and how she fled to an acquaintance's place in Ashburn.
Documents also paint a gruesome picture of the crime scene, where police seized multiple items, including cartridges, blood, glock accessories, a handwritten note and sleeping pills.
Veronica married Ronald Youngblood, Brooklyn's father, in 2009.
A teenager, Veronica’s daughter from a previous relationship, also lived with the couple.
The couple filed for divorce in 2016, and Ronald sought a protective order against Veronica. But the two still lived together and were set to move to Missouri this August. There, Veronica would get her own place.
Documents show she tried to stop the move, and sought primary custody of Brooklynn, but her request was denied.
She is due back in court in October.
There is a Gofundme set up for the surviving child. It is organized by her ice skating coach, Lynette Carroll. WDVM is not directly linking to it because she is a juvenile and a victim of a crime.
