Community members “Spring 2 Action” on annual giving day

Virginia

If you’ve ever wanted to give back to the community but don’t know where to start, ACT for Alexandria is making it easy for you!

On Wednesday, The City of Alexandria held their “Spring 2 Action” annual giving day. For 24 hours, community members have the chance to donate to local non-profits that are making a difference in Alexandria. CEO, of ACT for Alexandria, kicked off the event at McEnearney Associates where owners gave away a free cup of coffee to anyone with proof of a donation to participating organizations.

“It is Alexandria’s biggest fundraising day so we’re hoping to raise two million dollars that will support an incredible array of organization from the Animal Welfare League to arts organizations to the Carpenter’s Shelter which works with homeless families,” Heather Peeler, President and CEO of ACT for Alexandria said.

Last year, more than 9,000 individuals gave during Spring 2 Action, raising a record-breaking $1.8 million for 156 nonprofit organizations. Visit spring2action.org to donate or for more information.
