The Alexandria Commonwealth Attorney’s Office is investigating how a Woodbridge man was able to legally purchase a firearm after he shot an Alexandria police officer in the head in 2013.
33-year-old Kashif Bashir was acquitted for his crime by reason of insanity.
On February 6, the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to a fire in Manassas. Officers later located a second fire in Bristow.
On February 8, the Fire Marshal’s Office arrested Bashir on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including possession of a firearm by a person acquitted by reason of insanity.
