A group of students at South Lakes High School is hoping to spread some holiday joy with the opening of their new clothing closet.
They’re calling it “Seahawk Outfitters.” It’s a small clothing store right on school grounds. Inspired by the school’s food pantry, the clothing closet offers free clothes to students in need. Students are encouraged to come shop for warm weather items, interview attire, and school spirits gear free of charge and judgment.
“We want people to be comfortable to come in and get clothes because you know not everyone can afford that and there’s no problem with that,” said student Caroline Miller.
“At school we have like 700 students on our free reduced lunch and they already have the food pantry. We figured that if they need food they would also need other things too like clothes,” said Ninie Asad.
Local residents who wish to donate can make drop-offs at the main office of South Lakes High School when school resumes.
