Bright chalk art filled the streets of Washington Plaza during the annual Chalk on the Water at Lake Anne.
The two-day street art festival invited participants of all skill levels to create chalk drawings on the plaza. With amateur and professional artists, the event showcased a wide variety of talent from stick figures to drawings that bring the sidewalk to life. Organizers said the goal is to shed light on an art form that touches lives daily.
“The joy of it is to see when people are affected by a work of art that they walk by. Sometimes very often they don’t know who the artist is or what is behind the work but it gives them pleasure,” Anne Delaney, Executive Director of Public Art Reston.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Public Art Reston, a non-profit created to inspire an ongoing commitment of public art in Reston.
