The Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northwest Virginia is seeking a new executive director, after the former director resigned in the beginning of April.
The organization wants to continue the legacy of Juli Ferrell, who led the agency for over a decade. Board member Dr. Osbourne Abbey has stepped in as the interim executive director to lead the organization in its search and to continue assisting the children and their mentors involved in the program.
“So this is an exciting time for the board, an exciting time for me to be back in a support role with the board, and really to support the families,” said Abbey.
Abbey says the board expects to have the position filled in about 6 months. In the meantime, he plans on handling the majority of the day-to-day operations, including working to secure grant funding for the organization.
