The town of Berryville has been recognized as the second safest city in Virginia.
Safe Wise, a home security company, gathers data from the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting Program and examines the crime rates of cities across the country. In their 2019 report, they found that Berryville had only one violent crime within the last year. They noted that the biggest safety concerns for Virginians were property crimes and digital security.
“That’s what we really shoot for. Starting with a nice downtown area, nice parks, good after school activities. So there’s a whole lot more that goes into it than just saying ‘job well-done police department,’ it’s a whole community effort,“ said Berryville Police Chief Neal White.
Strasburg is another town in the Shenandoah Valley that made it into the top 20. They came in at number 11.
