Apartment robbed, mattress ripped and soaked in windshield wiper fluid

The Fairfax County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a Mount Vernon robbery.

The robbery is believed to have occurred sometime between Saturday and Wednesday at the apartment complex on the 1500 block of Woodlawn Gable Dr. 

The suspect stole and destroyed several items from an apartment. The bedroom mattress was cut open and soaked in windshield wiper fluid. There were no signs of forced entry.

“People who are burglarizing homes and apartments do it during working hours — Monday through Friday — they don’t want to be disturbed and they usually get in and out pretty quick,” said Second Lieutenant Jonathan Bryant of the Fairfax County Police Department.

The crime is considered one of FCPD’s #StrangerCalls, or crimes that are odd and unique.
