This week is National Nurses Week, a chance to thank the men and women in scrubs who make us feel comfortable when it matters most.
In order to get their degrees, student nurses shadow registered nurses until they meet the required hours. The students who shadow Inova Loudoun Hospital’s nurses are especially lucky.
The hospital’s student teaching program was recognized last month by the American Nursing Foundation for its exceptional training and teamwork.
“We’re a team. Nursing is a team sport. You have to work together to care and provide that safe, comfortable, compassionate care to every patient that you serve,” said Nicole Delesk, clinical director of Inova Loudoun Hospital’s Progressive Care Unit, where the student nurses from the Academies of Loudoun spend most of their training.
