After 7 days on the run, Pa. fugitive apprehended in Va. after murdering 71-year-old

Early Thursday morning, a man accused of murdering a 71-year-old Pennsylvania man was apprehended in Fairfax after seven days on the run.

WBRE in Wilkes Barre reports Devin Cunningham was at his mother’s home in the 7000 block of Audubon Ave. in Fairfax when he was arrested by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. The 20-year-old is one of four people charged in Joseph Monka’s death.

17-year-old Gabriella Long is the victim’s granddaughter. Her boyfriend, 19-year-old Chris Cortez, 16-year-old Mercedes Hall, and Cunningham are accused of stabbing Monka in the neck, beating him with a golf club, and stealing his car and about $30,000 from his safe.

The teens are being held in Luzerne County jail without bail.

Cunningham faces murder charges, three counts of conspiracy, two counts of theft, and single counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and tampering with evidence.
