Actress Marilu Henner named marshal of Apple Blossom Festival’s Fire Fighters Parade

With bloom time just a week away, the organizers of the 92nd Apple Blossom Festival have announced this year’s Fire Fighters’ marshal: actress and radio host Marilu Henner.

Henner, who starred in the sitcom series “Taxi” and originated the role of Marty Maraschino in Grease, will lead the Fire Fighters’ parade on Friday, May 3.

Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival President Barry Carper says organizers are thrilled to have Henner follow in the footsteps of former marshals such as country music star Sara Evans and NASCAR champion Bobby Labonte.

Carper encourages anyone who may not be familiar with the actress to quickly skim her resume.

“If you take the time to check her out on the internet, you will find that she is an amazing talent who has been in many, many, many television shows, movies, even music videos,” Carper said. “She’s a writer and we are so fortunate to have her.”

The parade celebrates firefighters and other first responders, and it is the oldest firefighters parade in the country.
