Virginia

A head-on crash in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County has killed a 55-year-old man.

This was the scene as police investigated the crash on George Washington Memorial Parkway south of Tulane Drive at around 4:30 Monday night.

A preliminary investigation reveals that a car traveling south crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a car traveling north.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, only identified as a 55-year-old male from Springfield, Virginia was pronounced dead on the scene.

The two passengers of that vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle involved were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
