On Wednesday, detectives from the Hagerstown City Police Department arrested and charged 36 year-old Clarence Warren Broussard III, of Hagerstown, in connection with the shooting death of 48 year-old Anthony Wayne Mazingo, also of Hagerstown.
At 5:15 p.m., Broussard III was taken into custody without incident on the corner of Lanvale and Ross Streets in Hagerstown.
Broussard III was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault and related firearm charges.
Broussard III was transported to Washington County Detention Center and is being held there.
The Hagerstown Police Department is investigating a shooting after an incident Sunday night.
Officers found a victim in the 600-block of Salem Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Sunday.
The victim’s wounds were life-threatening, and he was airlifted to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he remains in critical condition.
According to police, the man was involved in an altercation with other people in the area of McDowell Avenue, and then, witnesses heard gunshots. A black man wearing all black clothing then fled north from the scene.
The suspect was described as 5′ 7″ tall with a thin build, wearing a hoodie or something else over his head.
