UPDATE: Deputies say murder suspects could be traveling to southern states

UPDATE: The Washington County Sheriff’s office released new information in the search for the suspects in the murder of Margaret McAllister.

They said the pair may be traveling through southern states, specifically Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for two suspects, in connection with the homicide of an 81-year-old Hancock woman.

Crystal Stanley, 39, and Jerry Smith, Jr., 42, are both facing charges of first and second-degree murder, armed robbery, robbery and first and second-degree assault.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Crystal Stanley is related to the victim. She’s been identified as Margaret McAllister’s great niece. 

Officers with the Hancock Police Department and deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on the 200-block of North Pennsylvania Avenue, at about 9:15 p.m. on Friday. Inside the home, they found the body of Margaret McAllister.

The Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore ruled her death as a homicide on Saturday, after they performed an autopsy. McAllister’s death was originally being investigated as suspicious. Authorities are not releasing further details of her condition at this time, as the investigation is still ongoing.
