Volunteers came out to Chambersburg for the third Annual Franklin County First Responder Appreciation Day.
Organized by the 11/30 Network, volunteers gathered, donated care packages and delivered them to all 37 responder stations across Franklin County.
The care packages included donated snacks, books, movies, toiletries and even cakes.
Volunteers and first responders agreed that their favorite part of the care packages was the personalized letters they received from Franklin County children.
“I got to read through a couple of them this morning,” said Sara Zigler, 11/30 Network, Community Action Chair. “Some of them have first accounts of how first responders have helped them personally [and] their families [at] different times that they got to interact with them. Some of them just really show for what they’re doing and just wish them a happy holiday.”
Volunteers said that this is the most important time to show first responders their appreciation, because they are working hard so others can be with their families for the holidays.
