Suspect Arrested After Armed Home Invasion

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – A man was arrested Friday in Charles Town, West Virginia after an armed home invasion that took place Wednesday evening in the 100 block of Ray Street in Hagerstown. 

The man has been identified as JJ Winston. Police say Winston entered the residence and threatened the victim with an assault rifle, claiming the victim owed him money. The victim convinced Winston to wait outside until they got the money, and then locked the door to call the police. 

Winston fled the area in an unknown direction. 

Police found Winston’s vehicle a short distance later from Ray Street with no one inside. The AR style rifle and controlled dangerous substances was located inside. 

Winston was arrested by Maryland State Fugitive Apprehension Unit, West Virginia State Police and U.S. Marshalls.
