Storms bring flooding and wind damage to the Virginias

Storm Reports Saturday 01 September 2018

Strong winds and heavy rains impact Virginia after Saturday afternoon and evenings storms.  Here is a list of storm reports from the National Weather Service in Sterling, Virginia:

West Virginia

At 2:55 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports a road closure along Lower Arkansaw Road due to high water going into Baker, near McCauley, Hardy County, West Virginia.

At 2:55 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports a road closure at the 1,000-block of Caldwell Hollow Road due to flooding, near Baker, Hardy County, West Virginia.  

Virginia

At 4:00 PM EDT Saturday, an emergency manager reports of a water rescue on VA-602 leaving the Town of Shenandoah, Page County, Virginia.  Several road closures due to flood waters across Shenandoah.

At 4:05 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports of a tree down near the intersection of Dicks Hollow Road and Herman Lewis Lane near Albin, Frederick County, Virginia.

At 4:30 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports of large limbs down near the intersection of Inverlee Way and Taggart Drive in Frederick County, Virginia 2 miles ESE of Winchester, Virginia. 

At 4:45 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports of a tree down on Longmarsh Road near Wadesville, Clarke County, Virginia.  

At 4:50 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports of limbs and wires down on Pyletown Road near Boyce, Clarke County, Virginia.

At 4:56 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports of a road closure due to flooding along Maryland Avenue and First Street in Shenandoah, Page County, Virginia.

At 4:58 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports of a road closure on Shenandoah River Road at Route 340 due to flooding near Shenandoah, Page County, Virginia. 

At 5:00 PM EDT Saturday, an emergency manager reports of water getting into homes on Junior Avenue.  At least two water rescues of people in vehicles in flood waters in Shenandoah, Page County, Virginia.

At 5:50 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports a road closure for a portion of Jordan Springs Road due to flooding near Wadesville, Frederick County, Virginia.

At 5:50 PM EDT Saturday, a 911 call center reports of a road closure on Stephenson Road due to flooding, near Cedar Hill, Frederick County, Virginia. 

We will see another chance of showers and thunderstorms as we head into Sunday.  Flooding should remain isolated as storms appear to be less impactful as we head into the early portions of the week.  Stay tuned to WDVM for the latest weather information.
