Recreation centers prepare for summer rush

News

As the summer season starts to set in, recreation centers in Montgomery County are preparing to host a record-breaking number of visitors.

The Department of Recreation manages 37 facilities, providing thousands of programs, ranging from kids’ summer camps to therapeutic activities and adult sports.

The director of Bauer Drive Community Recreation Center was just recently recognized as Recreation Employee of the Year.

Alex Taylor has been working in the department since 2001.

Taylor says during peak season, he’ll see about 250 people come through the center each day.

“I feel honored because working with a lot of different teams and groups in our department, I do get to interact with a lot of employees I also feel are very excellent, so to be honored amongst them is a true honor,” said Taylor.

Taylor’s nomination letter says he is a leader in the community and is ready to help anyone who needs it.
