With input from more than 2,000 residents, Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner said that there was a consistent message from the community that education and public safety were the top two priorities in the Fiscal Year 2018 Budget.
Out of the $581.9 million for the total budget, county officials said a record amount of more than $270 million will go towards education. That includes $3.8 million for mandated maintenance effort for enrollment growth. Officials added that this is almost about $14 million dollars more than the prior year.
This money will also be going towards implementing a new pay scale for all FCPS teachers and staff.
