The Maryland Department of Labor is creating a program in Montgomery County to better assist people with disabilities who are entering the workforce.
The first phase will provide more adaptive technology to assist adults when applying at an American Jobs Center location.
The second phase will make sure their workplace has all the tools and technology needed to help them adjust.
This week, the program received more than $2 million from the United States Department of Labor.
“We will begin working on it immediately,” said Jim Rzepkowski, assistant secretary of Maryland Department of Labor. “We are putting together the project team, advertising for the navigator position that we built in and the staff individuals that we built in to get those on board as soon as possible.”
The program will also be implemented in Anne Arundel County.
