Poolesville residents concerned about soccer complex plans

Plans to build a soccer complex in Poolesville on Budd Road had residents flooding the rooms of town hall late Wednesday.

The property is currently farmland. If approved, attorney Charles Jamison said Poolesville residents can expect to see six soccer fields, a snack bar and grill, and an indoor event facility. One official on the board said while he loves soccer, he’s concerned about preserving their small hometown charm and the tourism it would bring.

A letter sent from Protect Our Poolesville, a group formed out of the response to construction in the town, said, “The soccer complex would impact Seneca Chase and Hunter’s Run property owners. It could possibly increase noise, traffic and endanger Budd Road, which is part of the Rustic Roads program.”
