Students learn about STEM through a hands on experience

This week Penn State Mont Alto is hosting their annual STEM camp

MONT ALTO, Pa. - This week, Penn State Mont Alto is hosting their annual STEM camp to provide incoming high school students opportunities to learn more about careers in STEM.

Over the course of the week, the students get to immerse themselves in all things STEM, building robots and learning about high tech DNA profiling.

As career opportunities in STEM-related fields continue to grow throughout the United States, the University is hoping to foster interest by taking their skills beyond camp.

"They see the bridge from the academic learning that happens in terms of engineering and then the practical  application of that,"  said Helen McGarry, director of continuing education.

The camp welcomes incoming high school students from both Maryland and Pennsylvania.
