Police investigating if attempted burglary is connected to child abduction case of Gemma Moats

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania State Police are looking into an attempted burglary that happened over the weekend to see if its connected to a missing child case in Franklin County, due to the proximity of the homes.

Authorities responded to the 14000 block of Lower Edgemont Road in Washington Township on reports that someone got into the home through an unlocked ground level window on Sunday around 3:45 a.m. The intruder left the home after hearing the dog and homeowner wake up on the upper floor. There is no suspect or vehicle information at this time.

The attempted burglary took place about less than a mile from where four-year-old, Gemma Moats, was reported missing last Thursday. She was found safe, but an investigation revealed that the young girl was taken from her home.

Residents are reminded to lock doors and windows at night time and to remain vigilant for any suspicious activity in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police, Chambersburg Barrack at (717) 264-5161.
