Pennsylvania barn fire leaves lost livestock and property damage

Pennsylvania

A fire initially controlled turned into a race to salvage livestock and property soon after.

According to Fulton County Dispatch, at about 2:15 p.m. April 3, they responded to a fire at 1704 Covalt Road in Thompson Township.

The Little Kansas Farms manager, Raymond Diehl, said the fire was initially under control.

“We had (been) burning some trash and we thought we had it out … that wind picked up yesterday and gave it some energy, it got out of hand and as you can see the barn burnt down,” Diehl said.

The owner of the property, Ben Lewis, said two barns and four cows were lost in the incident. According to dispatch, 15 fire responders made an effort to put out the flames.

No other injuries were reported and hay will be smoldering for the next couple of days.
