One person dead after car crash on I-81

A 67-year-old man is dead after a car crash on Friday morning. He died at the scene.

According to Boonsboro Antrim Township officials,  the call came in around 9:30 a.m., about an accident that occurred on Interstate 81 towards Exit 3.  Authorities report that three vehicles were involved in the crash. The two other people involved suffered from minor injuries. 

“Basically what happened was we had a vehicle which I will call unit number one was driving in the left lane he was attempting to take an oversize load,” said Trooper Angel Garcia of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Both sides of Interstate 81 were closed for around three hours. 

“Unit number one did continue to slide across the roadways, sideways into the grassy median area at which time that vehicle begin to roll and became airborne and launched into the northbound lanes,” said Garcia.

Police have not released anymore details.
