New drive thru teller windows at Chambersburg Borough offers more security

Pennsylvania

For those coming to pay their utility bill at the Borough of Chambersburg, customers will be seeing a completely new facility starting on Monday.

According to Borough officials, for the first time since 1972, the Borough is making renovations and expanding their Utility Departments. And as part of a new addition to City Hall, the Chambersburg Borough opened its new drive thru teller window on Monday in its new location, off the rear parking lot that is behind the building. Borough officials say the new facility is to make the experience of coming to the borough easier and safer.

“We deal with a lot of financial transactions here, so we try to organize the rear with special security glass and security cameras,” said Jeffrey Stonehill, Chambersburg borough manager.

The Utility Departments addition is not fully completed, but Stonehill says he anticipates the project to be completed by the ceremonial ribbon cutting on December 20, which will be open to the public at 4 p.m.
