Franklin County Veterans Affairs continues to pair veterans with service dogs

Pennsylvania
Franklin County Veterans Affairs is continuing to help veterans with their Operation Save-A-Vet, Save-A-Pet program.

Veterans Affairs director Justin Slep recently presented Charlie Martin, a veteran who served during the Korean conflict, with a Chocolate Labrador Retriever. Operation-Save-A Vet, Save-A-Pet has been in Franklin County since 2016 and has paired many veterans with pets.

The pets are there to assist veterans who have struggled with disorders such as PTSD. The program is made possible in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Veterans’ Trust Fund and private donations.
