Its been more than two years in the making, but the Chambersburg Aquatic Center is opening its doors to the public. Saturday, people were able to cool off and take a dip in the various new attractions.
The Aquatic Center located off of Memorial Drive has more than just a swimming pool. It features water slides, a nine-hole miniature golf course and a skate park. The nearly $7.5 million expansion took about a year to complete and is now opening just in time for Memorial Day Weekend.
“Our old pool was way beyond it’s useful life. There were no real fun activities for people to do. It’s smaller than what we had at the municipal pool, but it’s a lot more activities for people to do,” said Chandler Johnson, Assistant Aquatic Center Manager.
General public prices are $5 for people who live in the Borough of Chambersburg and $9 for anyone outside of the borough.
