A new YMCA facility is a step closer to becoming a reality in Urbana, thanks to a new campaign launch.
Officials with the YMCA of Frederick County, Md. said they have been working on the project for nearly two years.
Officials said they assume it’s going to take them around six months to raise all the funds. They added that they are trying to raise about $13 million, and they have secured $6 million for this project.
“Urbana is growing extremely fast, and there really aren’t a lot of additional recreational activities for the family and the students. We feel like this will bring the community together,” said Frederick County, Md. YMCA CEO Chris Colville.
If all goes well, officials estimate that the new Urbana YMCA facility should be ready by late Spring of 2019.
