Second court appearance for Tree of Life synagogue suspect

November 1 marked the second court appearance this week for Robert Bowers, 46, after a federal grand jury indicted him on 44 federal charges in last weekend’s killings of 11 worshippers at the Tree of Life synagogue.

Bowers was cuffed at the hands and ankles as he walked into the western district of Pennsylvania federal court. Most of the charges against Bowers — who is being held at the Butler County Jail without bond — are eligible for the death penalty.
