Mother deemed incompetent to stand trial in connection with missing children

News
A Montgomery County woman was in court Tuesday for a competency hearing. Police say she’s the last person known to have seen her children before they disappeared in September of 2014.

29-year-old Catherine Hoggle was deemed incompetent to stand trial by her doctors and the judge ruled that she be given three more months of treatment.  She has been charged with two counts of detaining a child, two counts of neglect of a minor, and one count of obstructing and hindering justice.

Sarah was four-years-old when she went missing and Jacob was two. Family members say they just want Sarah and Jacob back.

“This is hurting all of us, but the children, why are they put through this?” said Debbie Beckward, Sarah and Jacob’s grandmother.

“It’s fair to say that there has not been a substantial change and what we’re dealing with are profound mental health issues here,” said David Felsen, Hoggle’s attorney.

Hoggle is scheduled to next appear in court on September 27.
