Washington County will be updating its email notification system to provide customers a faster service.
The Washington County Division of Construction is joining with the Division of Plan Review and Permitting to enhance email notifications. Officials say they are trying to make the residential or commercial inspection process more efficient for contractors and customers in the county.
The enhancement is a three step process and includes the following: when the inspection has been scheduled, email from the contractor prior to going to the site and the completion of the inspection.
Depending on the project, city officials anticipate saving 10 to 15 minutes with the new email process.
“If the contractors are receiving these emails from us, our staff may not have to field as many phone calls in the morning wanting to know when we’re going to be there or us placing phone calls to contractors saying when we’re going to be there if they ask for a time,” said Director of Construction Rich Eichelberger.
The new email notification process will take place outside of the Hagerstown city limits and will start April 2. Customers can still call in for those who don’t have access to email.
