Washington County Delegation reacts to Antietam Broadband negotiation

WDVM 25 continues to try to work with Antietam Broadband to get WDVM back in their lineup for Washington County viewers.

Washington County residents who subscribe to Antietam Broadband are still unable to turn on their TV’s and get the local news, weather and sports that WDVM 25 provides every day.

“It has been since January 1st, so a couple weeks. It reminds me of the government shutdown,” said Del. Neil Parrott, (R) District 2A.

As frustrations continue to grow in Washington County, they are also growing in Annapolis where the county’s delegation is, as they begin the 2019 session of the General Assembly.

Delegate Parrott has heard from some of his constituents, who said they are sad they can’t watch their local news. Parrott has reached out to Brian Lynch, President of Antietam Broadband, and asked him to, “encourage Antietam to continue negotiation in good faith with WDVM to reach an agreement.”

“WDVM provides wonderful local programming for the Washington County area, and I really think it is helpful to have that on Antietam cable,” said Parrott. “A lot of some of the people who believe in having Antietam cable is just to get local programming like WDVM.”

WDVM travels to Annapolis each week during the General Assembly to bring you what laws are being passed that could impact you and your family.

Other delegation leaders said they want to see WDVM and Antietam work things out.

“That is important,” said Del. William Wivell, (R), District 2A. That is why I say it is important to have that local coverage. Obviously, there is a newspaper. But you all provide a different perspective on what happens in Annapolis, so we are hopeful and grateful that the parties will continue to work things out.”

Delegate Mike McKay also said that the delegation supports local news, and that the community needs the local news.

You can call your local elected representatives at 301-766-4175 and ask them to urge Antietam Broadband to return to the negotiations.
