Washington County Commissioners came to a consensus to change 7.15 acres of land along Leitersburg Pike from residential to business zoning.
Bluegrass Commercial LLC asked the county to rezone the land form rural village to rural business in order to expand New Direction Utilities, an electrical system removal and installation business located nearby.
A couple residents previously voiced their concerns about the rezoning causing more accidents and traffic, but county officials say this will be studied before any final decision is made.
“When the plan review folks and the planning commission do their evaluation of all the details, they will have to make some kind of conclusion about that kind of effect,” said Stephen Goodrich, planning and zoning director.
The property is adjacent to the village of Leitersburg.
