UPDATE: Three transported to local hospitals in 5 car pile up on I-70 eastbound in Frederick



A 5 car pile-up caused major delays on Interstate 70 eastbound on Tuesday morning.

According to a Trooper with the Maryland State Police, two accidents occurred on I-70 near Hollow Road. The first accident was caused when a driver was hit with a sun glare which caused a fender bender with four vehicles. As the crash occurred, another car crashed into the accident.

Three people were taken to the hospital, all with non-life threatening injuries.

Two people were taken to local hospitals Tuesday morning after a six-car pile up on I-70 eastbound near Hollow Road in Frederick County, Maryland. According to Maryland State Police, the call was reported just after 8 a.m. 

Maryland State Police say one lane is open, and that there doesn’t seem to be major injuries as of now. 

The roadways are expected to be re-opened within the next 20 minutes.

The cause is not immediately known. This story is developing.
