Tenants able to gather belongings following Hyde Park Apartment fire

Maryland

Tenants were able to come back and gather their belongings following an apartment fire in Hagerstown.

It was Friday night when Hagerstown Fire crews were called to the Hyde Park Apartment complex located on 1419 Kensington Drive to see heavy fire coming from the roof. Sunday afternoon, the 30 residents who were put out by the fire were able to return and search for their belongings. Fay Jackson-James was with her father and son at the time the fire broke out. She is one of the tenants who was able to salvage what she could.

“Today I guess I just came back to see what we could and basically I wanted to get medications and things of that nature,” said Jackson-James.

The American Red Cross in Hagerstown has been assisting the families on their third day now. If you were affected by the Hyde Park Apartment fire and need assistance, you can contact the Hagerstown American Red Cross at (410) 624-2040.
