State legislative commission recommends a new district in Montgomery County

Lawmakers at the Maryland General Assembly this week are hearing from advocates for enhanced paid leave plans in the workplace.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WDVM) — There may be a new district coming to Montgomery County per the State Legislative Commission recommendation.

If this new map is approved, the county would have lawmakers in nine districts instead of eight. District 9A is currently in Howard and Carroll counties.  But this new proposal would stretch into Montgomery County’s northeastern area, which includes a portion of Damascus.

The proposed map will now head to the General Assembly for review when it convenes next month.
