HAGERSTOWN, Md. (WDVM) — With February drawing to a close, one can fantasize during these bitterly cold winter weeks about baseball spring training, with camps just getting organized for the summer pastime. For many, it would be great to head south to the Grapefruit League in Florida’s warmer climate.
In Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia, the week started off snowy, icy, slushy, windy and cold. The morning commute in Hagerstown found side streets and alleyways especially difficult. Parallel parking was a real challenge with plowed piles of snow pushed aside from main thoroughfares.
There was lots of shoveling and many snowblowers. A serious weather-related accident held up traffic on Interstate 70 near Frederick. The weather has been a mess to start the week, but after the lunch hour some main roads were pretty clear and there was even a glint of sunlight. It has been warming up a bit and an improving forecast will greet us midweek.
