The Washington County Division of Emergency Services teamed up with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency for Severe Storms Awareness Week.
The Washington County Division of Emergency Services shared tips that will help residents avoid dangerous situations including flooding, tornadoes and thunder storms. Assistant Director of Emergency Management and Communications said “If you hear thunder or see lightning, try to get inside right away,” Tom Brown.
He also gave tips for people who find themselves in severe weather.
“If the water is high on the roadway it’s better to turn around, this will reduce property damage and life safety issues,” Brown said. “Some other points are if you are outside and you hear thunder that usually means you are close enough to the lightening to be struck.”
