Race narrows for Maryland’s next House Speaker

Maryland

The race is on as members of the Maryland House of Delegates will head back to Annapolis, Maryland, on Wednesday to vote for their next House Speaker.

The race has been narrowed down to two delegates, Del. Maggie McIntosh (D-Baltimore City) and Del. Dereck Davis (D-Prince George’s County).

Speaker Pro Tem, Del. Adrienne Jones (D-Baltimore County), announced earlier in April she was stepping away from the race.

Gov. Larry Hogan announced the special session earlier this month.

The session comes after the passing of Michael Busch, who was the longest House Speaker in Maryland’s history.
