Potholes to be repaired in Smithsburg

Maryland

After every winter, there is always an increase in potholes, which is why the Smithsburg Town Council is taking action to fix their roads.

This decision was made after a work session meeting this week.

The town was able to allocate $8,900  to go through town and fix potholes. Their main focus will be in areas of need like Whispering Hills and Main Street.

After the meeting, the town also decided that there will be major road repair to east school lane in the 2020 budget.

“We’re looking at about an $80,000 upgrade to E School Lane, which would widen this a little bit, fix up some of the potholes and some of the infrastructure issues that we have here, so we are really taking a real hard look at trying to improve our community,” said Donald Souders, Smithsburg Town Council Member.

If they can’t get the money for this project from a grant, the town will pull the money out of their own reserve highway user funds.
